Best Campgrounds for 45+ Foot RVs in Arkansas

1,137 of Arkansas's 2,644 tracked campsites (43%) confirm a 45ft+ maximum length — the 5th-largest count of any state, but below the 57% national rate. Here's where they actually are.

RVFitFinder tracks 2,644 real campsites across Arkansas, and 1,137 of them (43%) confirm a maximum vehicle length of 45 ft or more. That is the fifth-largest raw count of any state — but it sits below the 57% national rate (17,932 of 31,420 tracked sites), which makes Arkansas a very different proposition than the raw number suggests.

Big raw numbers, below-average odds

By count, only Texas (1,980), Oklahoma (1,932), Missouri (1,843) and Kansas (1,423) have more confirmed 45ft+ sites than Arkansas. By share, the picture flips: among the 35 states with at least 100 tracked sites, Arkansas's 43% rate ranks 19th — mid-pack, and well behind neighboring Kansas (78%) and Texas (87%). There are plenty of big-rig sites in Arkansas; there are simply also plenty of shorter ones mixed in with them, so more than half of what you browse in the state will not take a 45-foot rig.

Where the 45ft+ sites actually are

The biggest single concentration is Jefferson Ridge on Lake Ouachita, where 71 of 82 tracked sites (87%) confirm 45 ft or more. Aux Arc on the Arkansas River follows with 56, then Shouse Ford (51), Alpine Ridge (45) and Horseshoe Bend on Beaver Lake (44) — almost all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake and river campgrounds. Those top five account for 267 sites, only 23% of the state total, and 44 of the 48 Arkansas campgrounds RVFitFinder tracks have at least one confirmed 45ft+ site. Big-rig camping here is spread thin across many Corps campgrounds rather than concentrated in a few destinations.

Campground-level share matters as much as count. Horseshoe Bend has 184 tracked sites but only 24% of them clear 45 ft, while Alpine Ridge clears it on 92% of its 49 sites — a much shorter list, and much better odds on any given booking attempt.

The cliff between 40 and 45 feet

Arkansas inventory drops off sharply with length. Of the state's 2,644 tracked sites, 87% confirm 30 ft or more, 71% confirm 35 ft, 56% confirm 40 ft, 43% confirm 45 ft, and just 31% confirm 50 ft. The step from 40 to 45 feet alone removes 351 sites. If your rig is near that boundary, measuring it accurately is worth real inventory — the 40-foot RV campsites page covers the wider bracket.

Hookups and driveway type

Amenities are the good news. Of the 1,137 confirmed 45ft+ Arkansas sites, 852 (75%) also have a confirmed hookup — better than the 58% national rate at the same length, and better than Arkansas's own sub-45ft sites (59%). Another 247 (22%) are confirmed dry camping only. Maneuvering is the bad news: just 65 of the 1,137 sites (6%) are pull-through, below the 8% national share at this length, and 1,051 (92%) are back-in. A 45-foot rig in Arkansas should expect to back into a wooded Corps loop, usually with water at the site.

Check your exact rig

A statewide rate is context, not a booking decision. Use the Arkansas camping page or the RVFitFinder tool to check your RV's exact length against real, individual Arkansas sites, or see the 45-foot RV campsites page for how the state compares nationally.
