Best Campgrounds for 35 Foot RVs

25,020 of RVFitFinder's 31,420 tracked campsites (80%) confirm a 35ft+ maximum length. Here's where they actually are.

Open prairie landscape typical of the central U.S. plains states where most confirmed 35-foot RV sites are concentrated

Of the 31,420 real campsites RVFitFinder tracks nationally, 25,020 (80%) confirm a maximum vehicle length of 35 ft or more — sourced directly from each site's own Recreation.gov listing, not estimated or rounded up from a shorter number. That's the largest share of any rig-length threshold RVFitFinder tracks below 40 ft, but the odds still vary sharply by state.

Where 35-foot-plus sites are most common

By raw count, Missouri (2,557), Oklahoma (2,419), Texas (2,175), Arkansas (1,886), and Kansas (1,708) each have well over 1,500 tracked sites confirmed at 35 ft or longer — together accounting for more than a third of all 35ft+ sites RVFitFinder tracks nationally. All five are central U.S. states with heavy U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake and reservoir camping, where campground loops tend to run longer and wider than in older, tighter national park loops.

Raw counts don't tell you your odds at a given campground, though. On a percentage basis, Nebraska leads with 99% of its 208 tracked sites confirmed at 35 ft or more, followed by Iowa (98% of 1,231), then Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi tied at 96%. Arkansas is the outlier among the top-5-by-count states: despite having 1,886 confirmed 35ft+ sites, that's only 71% of its 2,644 tracked sites — noticeably worse odds than several states with far fewer total 35-foot-plus sites.

How concentrated is this nationally?

569 distinct campgrounds across 43 states have at least one confirmed 35 ft+ site, and 36 states have enough tracked coverage (20 or more confirmed 35ft+ sites) to call the fit reliable rather than a fluke. A 35-foot rig has real options in nearly every part of the country RVFitFinder tracks — but "nearly everywhere" still isn't every campground, which is why checking the individual site matters before booking.

What else to check besides length

Of the 25,020 sites confirmed at 35 ft or more nationally, 13,728 (55%) also have a confirmed hookup and 2,198 (9%) are pull-through — and that mix swings wildly by state. In Texas, 2,142 of 2,175 thirty-five-foot-plus sites (98%) have a confirmed hookup, and Mississippi isn't far behind at 95%. Iowa is the opposite case: despite having the second-best length odds in the country, only 72 of its 1,202 confirmed 35ft+ sites (6%) have a confirmed hookup — meaning one of the easiest states to fit a 35-foot rig into is also one of the least likely to offer power, water, or sewer at that site.

State and national numbers are a starting point, not a booking decision. Use the 35-foot RV campsites page or the RVFitFinder tool to see the real, individual sites behind these numbers — including the specific campground, driveway type, and hookup status — before you commit to a reservation.

Which states have the most 35-foot-friendly campsites?

Currently Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas have the most tracked sites confirmed at 35 ft or longer, each with over 1,700 tracked sites.

Which state has the best odds, not just the most sites?

Nebraska — 99% of its 208 tracked sites are confirmed at 35 ft or longer, the highest share of any state with meaningful RVFitFinder coverage, ahead of Iowa (98%) and a three-way tie between Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi (96%).

Do 35-foot-rated sites usually have full hookups?

It depends heavily on the state. Nationally, 55% of confirmed 35ft+ sites have a confirmed hookup, but in Texas that figure is 98% while in Iowa — one of the states with the best length odds — it's just 6%. Check each site individually rather than assuming.
