Best Campgrounds for 30 Foot RVs

28,047 of RVFitFinder's 31,420 tracked campsites (89%) confirm a 30ft+ maximum length. Here's where they actually are.

RVFitFinder tracks 31,420 real campsites nationwide, and 28,047 of them (89%) confirm a maximum vehicle length of 30 ft or more — sourced directly from each site's own Recreation.gov listing, not estimated or rounded up. At 30 ft, a mid-size Class A, a longer Class C, or a travel trailer with tow vehicle, the odds of finding a fit are good almost everywhere, but coverage still isn't uniform, and knowing where it's strongest still matters.

Where 30ft+ sites are most common

By raw count, Missouri (2,767 of 2,951 tracked sites, 94%), Oklahoma (2,549 of 2,753, 93%), Arkansas (2,302 of 2,644, 87%), Texas (2,210 of 2,268, 97%), and Kansas (1,751 of 1,819, 96%) have the most confirmed 30ft+ sites — concentrated at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake campgrounds across the central U.S., the same pattern seen at longer rig lengths.

Raw totals undersell a few smaller states. Nebraska confirms all 208 of its tracked sites (100%) at 30 ft or more, and Illinois (1,041 of 1,049, 99%), Iowa (1,216 of 1,231, 99%), and Mississippi (1,213 of 1,231, 99%) all clear 99% — a rig at this length has near-certain odds in these states even though none of them crack the top 5 by volume.

How concentrated is this nationally?

592 distinct campgrounds across 43 states have at least one confirmed 30 ft+ site, and 38 states have enough tracked inventory (50 or more sites) to call the data meaningful rather than anecdotal. At 30 ft, big-rig-friendly camping isn't a regional exception — it's close to the default — but "usually fits" still isn't the same as "guaranteed," which is why checking the individual site still matters.

Hookups and driveway type

Of the 28,047 sites confirmed at 30 ft or longer, 22,100 (79%) also have a confirmed hookup — noticeably higher than the hookup rate at 40 ft and up, since 30-footers can use a wider range of older, less-developed sites that don't happen to have modern hookup infrastructure built in. Pull-through sites are less common: just 2,440 of 28,047 (9%), so most 30ft+ rigs should plan to back in rather than count on pulling straight through.

The specific campgrounds with the most 30ft+ sites

Individual campgrounds do the heavy lifting behind these state totals: Shenango Recreation Area Campground in Pennsylvania (324 confirmed 30ft+ sites), Mill Creek Camping at Berlin Lake in Ohio (297), Prairie Flower Recreation Area in Iowa (250), Seven Points in Pennsylvania (238), and Sugar Bottom Campground in Iowa (228) are the single largest concentrations tracked anywhere in the country.
